Thigh Lift can be done either in conjunction with other surgery for patients who have experienced significant weight loss, or on its own. Thigh Lift may address issues in the buttock, outer thighs, or inner thighs. When posterior or lateral Thigh Lift is done in conjunction with a Tummy Tuck, it is often called a Body Lift or Belt Lipectomy.

Am I A Good Candidate For A Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift is a skin removal and skin tightening treatment that corrects excess skin and is typically an after weight loss procedure. It is commonly performed by Dr. Nachbar on patients who have lost at least 100 pounds. It's also popular in older adults who are concerned about sagging skin due to natural aging, as well as with women whose weight changed due to pregnancy. If you have excess or wrinkly skin on your upper thighs (either the outer or inner thighs or both), a thigh lift may be helpful.
Our Approach
When the buttock and/or outer thigh becomes loose and saggy, a "lateral" or "outer" thigh lift may be appropriate. Most often, this is done with an incision that runs above the buttocks, although for patients with a lot of excess skin, especially after they have already had a lateral thigh lift, an excision along the bottom of the outer buttock may be appropriate.
When the inner thigh skin has become loose, this may be treated with an "inner" or "medial" thigh lift. This can be done at the groin crease level alone, but is more commonly done, especially in patients who have lost a lot of weight, with an extension along the inner thigh to tighten the skin in the mid to lower thigh area.
Often, multiple procedures can be done at the same time. For patients who need more procedures that can be done in a single surgery, a second surgery can often be scheduled from a few days to few weeks apart.

What Should I Expect after a Thigh Lift?
Thighplasty takes around 2 – 3 hours to complete. As soon as the procedure is over, you will be monitored and assessed before you are allowed to go home for recovery. There may be swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the first few days of recovery. In several days, many patients are able to get up and walk slowly, which is recommended for circulation and speedier healing. The full recovery time typically takes about 6 – 8 weeks. Wound care instructions given by Dr. Nachbar will help your incision to heal properly. Although patients will have some scarring, the new shape and contour of your thighs may help you regain your self-esteem, and you can flaunt your thighs with pride.
More Information
After you lose significant amounts of weight, sometimes called "Massive Weight Loss", sagging of the skin is inevitable. Fortunately, there is something you can do about it. Different procedures can help different parts of the body.

Thigh Lift FAQs
Will a thigh lift remove cellulite or stretch marks?
Thigh lift surgery is the best choice to improve the contour and appearance of your legs. Since the procedure includes tightening the skin and addressing excessive fat, it also minimizes the appearance of cellulite or other skin irregularities (like stretch marks) on your upper legs. If you are worried about cellulite or stretch marks, let Dr. Nachbar know during your consultation so he can customize your treatment plan to fit your goals.
Can I combine a thigh lift with other surgeries?
Many patients combine a thigh lift with a butt lift or tummy tuck in a lower body lift. Thighplasties are also a standard part of an after weight loss surgery or a mommy makeover. During your consultation, talk to Dr. Nachbar about all your aesthetic desires and goals so he can develop a comprehensive surgical plan that gives you the best results.
What about a nonsurgical thigh lift?
Although there are nonsurgical treatments for fat reduction and skin tightening, they are best for small or moderate improvements. A thighplasty is the best way to correct significant amounts of loose skin and stubborn fat on your legs. If you're considering nonsurgical treatments, ask Dr. Nachbar for more information during your consultation. He will tell you the pros and cons of both thigh lift surgery and nonsurgical options.
